South Padre Island

The Town of South Padre Island is a year-round vacation destination that has a sub-tropical environment with mild dry winters & warm breezy summers. With average winter temperatures of 65 degrees, summer averages of 82 degrees, and an average of 253 days of sunshine a year, South Padre Island welcomes 20,000 to 200,000 visitors a year.

Located at the eastern edge of Cameron County in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas just 30 miles north of the Mexican border, South Padre Island is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico & the Laguna Madre Bay. This little slip of land, a 34-mile barrier reef, is a half mile at it’s widest point. The island’s thriving coastal town provides activities & amenities while preserving nature & privacy. The town is linked to the mainland by the Queen Isabella Causeway, a 1.5 mile four-lane bridge to Port Isabel Texas.
